Vehicle windshield visibility and condition regulations are established by the US Transportation Department. The law states that, in order for a vehicle to run legally on Arizona’s public roads, the windshield should feature only legal tinting, while the center should be free of damage or any discoloration. The center of the windshield is defined by the law as being the area above the steering wheel, with extension to two inches below the top edge and one inch to each lateral side. Having a crack on your windshield doesn’t automatically render your car illegal to drive on public roads; you may still drive it as long as any two cracks do not intersect with each other. In other words, spider web-like cracks are not allowed.

Still, when the state of the windshield goes out of legal bounds, a replacement is required. In case of windshield damage produced as a result of a traffic accident, insurance companies are required to assess the glass and decide upon either repairing or replacing it.  There are a few elements you should consider when you apply for a windshield replacement covered by your insurance agency of choice. Paperwork, evidence and quick action are critical in order to go through a hassle-free process and get your car back on the road as quickly as possible. So, what is there to do when you want to apply for windshield replacement?

First of all, the US Department of Transportation regulates that windshields will be replaced fully by the contracted insurance company only if the damage resulted was done due to another driver’s fault. In other words, if your vehicle’s windshield cracked or shattered as a result of an accident you were involved in, the insurance company is obliged to replace it only if the accident wasn’t caused by you. Arizona insurance agencies cover windshield replacement costs with certain reputable vendors such as AGD Auto Glass & Tint Co, not only as a result of an accident, but also in cases of vandalism, wildlife attacks, falling rocks and extreme temperatures.

Also, the Department of Transportation forbids the increase of policy rates after a windshield replacement process. This applies to every US state, including Arizona, but as mentioned above, the law protects you only when you are not the person responsible for the damage. Remember that insurance companies providing coverage in Arizona are obliged to replace broken windshields without any charge or increase in premiums 2 times a year. You can choose to fix or replace your windshield in a car repair shop with whom the insurance company has a collaboration contract, or in a service unit of your choice. For the second option a limit in reimbursement amount may be enforced by the insurance company.

If you are out of the 2 free replacements, you should now consider comprehensive deductible. If the repair costs are higher than your comprehensive deductible amount, you can consider filing a claim on your insurance company. Still, if the repair value is just a little over the deductible amount, all the paperwork and lost time in filing a claim may not account for the money difference.

When we go look at new cars, we usually have one thing in mind, COST!

On the other hand, once you begin to weigh in factors such as financing incentives, your car’s trade-in value, rebates and various costs, the car buying process gets a little confusing – particularly if you are relying on someone who wants to make money to guide you with the process. Here is how to skip through all of the sales pitches & negotiate the ideal price on the new car you are looking for.

Get Quotes from more than just one Dealership
Before you enter the showroom terrain, it’s wise to do your research and get quotes from competing dealerships. In the past, you had to make phone calls for this, but now you can find dealer quotes right from their website.
Our advice is not to mention your trade-in, monthly payments or lending choices. At this stage, you are merely interested in the car’s OTD price. A car dealership’s main goal is to get the maximum dollars feasible for each car it sells. In doing this, you create a competition between the dealerships, and sets you up for an easier negotiation process

During the negotiation process, you must realize that the dealership wants to sell that car, & you are in the market for one. Although it seems easy, it’s not.  AGD Auto Glass & Tint Co suggests you follow these steps.

Know What You Can Afford and What you want to pay

**Don’t Become Emotional.  Keeping your cool is the best way to negotiate the price you want to pay.

**Be Ready to Walk Out if they try and hard sell you. There is always a dealership down the block that will offer you the price you want.

Shop During Off Hours

**Going to the dealership during a weekday means you’ll compete with fewer customers, which may make it easier to get a good deal.

Always Negotiate the Purchase Price not the monthly payments.

**Don’t discuss what you want your monthly pmts to be, just discuss the final purchase price of the car.

**When they start to discuss your trade in value, monthly payments and financing options, it tends to distract you and make you think you are getting a good deal.  Stick with the purchase price.

**Never Shop for a car based purely on monthly payments.. bottom line

Your Car’s Trade-in Value

**Talking about your trade right off the bat, can complicate the process and distract you from your ultimate goal of getting the best price.  Dealers will start moving numbers around to confuse you and think that you are getting the best deal.  So wait till later for that

Rebates and Incentives

**A cash rebate is more than likely what may have allowed you to walk through the door, but talking about incentives & rebates before you have locked in a price, could potentially put you at risk for a higher cost.

Fees are always negotiable

**Be aware that if the dealership adds a dealer fee, such as “dealer prep” or a “marketing fee,” just know that it’s not final and always up for negotiation.

The vehicle shopping process can be confusing, but sticking to this plan will help simplify the procedure, which in turn will allow you you get the best price possible on the new car of your dreams.

Once you have purchase your new car, always remember that add ons such as window tint, can be done after the car is purchased.  This will also greatly reduce the cost of the car.  When looking for extras, such as window tint or vehicle striping, contact AGD Auto Glass & Tint Co.

Good Luck on finding your dream car.. getting a new car is always exciting!!
